PROCEDURE OF THE ÖRC ENTITY TEST
According to the decision of the board of the ÖRC from August 26th, 2000, from 1.1.2001 the completion of the character test of the ÖRC with an attached breed show or the completion of the JBP / R, BLP, VGP or Working Test L (novice) with water work is required for breeding approval.
The test is designed in such a way that every retriever owner should be able to complete the test with his dog without much preparatory training. A very good bond between owner and dog is therefore required. Attending a puppy play group or a young dog course as well as an intensive occupation with the puppy or young dog is recommended in this context.
Only one person is allowed to walk the dog during the test. Changing dog handlers during the test is not permitted. Spectators are not allowed.
Every dog handler is liable for the damage caused by him or his dog.
Age limit: Retrievers from at least 9 months to 4 years of age are allowed to take the character test.
Bitches in heat and dogs that are under the influence of medication and / or have undergone other veterinary interventions (e.g. chemical castration, chip castration, psychotropic drugs and the like) are not permitted to take part in the character test. (decided by the ÖRC board on January 13, 2013)
Repetition: If the test is not passed, it is possible to repeat the character test twice with a different judge. Retrievers who have failed the character test 3 times cannot obtain breeding approval in the ÖRC. (decided by the ÖRC board on July 22, 2012).
Retrievers who received the exclusion reason “aggression” in 2 character tests cannot obtain a breeding license in the ÖRC and receive an event ban in the ÖRC (decided by the ÖRC board on July 22, 2012).
